Accessible Studying
The University of Vienna’s Accessibility Team is dedicated to removing barriers and making studies accessible to all. They provide personal, confidential, solutions‑oriented advising on all questions related to accessible studying—from choosing and organizing your studies and navigating day‑to‑day campus life to reasonable accommodations, accessible examinations, and assistive technologies and digital tools.
The Accessibility Team also supports instructors in designing inclusive, legally compliant teaching and assessment formats—practical, efficient, and attentive to the diverse needs of your students. This includes guidance on accessible pedagogy, digital accessibility, and inclusive, respectful communication.
On the University of Vienna’s Accessibility Portal (in German), you’ll find everything you need to know about accessibility—concise, up to date, and easy to navigate. The portal guides you quickly to the information that matters to you and offers practical guidance and concrete services.
What you’ll find there:
- For students and prospective students: information on reasonable accommodations, accessible examinations, study organization, campus orientation, assistive technologies and digital tools, as well as advising and day‑to‑day support.
- For instructors: guides to accessible teaching, digital accessibility, tips for inclusive pedagogy, legal basics, checklists, and professional development opportunities.
Take a look—the Accessibility Portal connects you with the right solutions and contacts in just a few clicks, making studying and teaching at the University of Vienna more accessible for everyone.
The University of Vienna follows a decentralized model of accessibility. This means there is no single overarching person or unit responsible for all aspects of accessibility; implementation happens locally, within the relevant units.
For impairment‑specific questions, there are often external organizations with long‑standing expertise. The University of Vienna can cooperate with these partners as needed. For highly personal concerns or emergency situations, external contacts may sometimes be more appropriate.
Depending on what you need, different internal or external points of contact will be responsible:
- Internal points of contact (in German)
- External points of contact (in German)
