The Master's program "European and International Business Law" offers a comprehensive, practice-oriented education and continuing professional development for business lawyers with a European and international emphasis. The program focuses on globally operating companies and their legal position in the European Internal Market as well as in global commerce.
The LL.M. program provides in-depth knowledge of European and international business law. This LL.M. program prepares you for careers in business law firms, international companies, public administrations and European institutions. It is offered in English and German - in both full-time and part-time formats. The English full-time program also includes a strong European and international intellectual property (IP) and technology law emphasis.
The LL.M. program is offered in two languages and four formats to accommodate diverse professional and personal needs.
All four formats lead to the Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree and offer internationally recognized experts as lecturers, a variety of opportunities for exchange and a strong alumni network.

As a graduate of this Master's program, you qualify for demanding roles and challenging tasks in European and international business law. Graduates work in law firms specializing in business law, in the legal departments of internationally operating companies, and in European and international specialist units of federal and state administrations. In addition, opportunities open up in advocacy organizations, in institutions of the European Union, as well as in other European and international organizations. Upon completion, you will have in-depth knowledge of European and international business law and combine academic knowledge with practice-oriented expertise.
The LL.M. program “European and International Business Law” offers a wide range of partner programs with renowned institutions in Austria and abroad – in both academic and practice-oriented settings. Students and graduates thus have many opportunities to broaden and deepen their studies and define individual areas of focus. They can earn additional academic degrees at reduced rates, participate in traineeships and gain international experience.
Stanford Student Exchange Program
This student exchange program enables two students each year to spend one semester as exchange students at Stanford Law School – one of the world’s most renowned universities – in Silicon Valley, California. The exchange is particularly suitable for law graduates who wish to further specialize in U.S. business or technology law.
All exchange students must hold a first law degree and be enrolled in the LL.M. program “European and International Business Law” during their exchange semester at Stanford. Exchange students do not pay tuition fees at Stanford University. Up to 12 credits (units) earned at Stanford Law School can be transferred as elective modules toward the LL.M. program "European and International Business Law".

Exchange Semester for Incoming Students of Stanford Law School at the University of Vienna enrolling the LL.M. program “European and International Business Law”
The University of Vienna allows two students of Stanford Law School each year to study as exchange students in the LL.M. program “European and International Business Law” at the University of Vienna for one semester.
Exchange students can transfer 12 unit credits earned in the LL.M. program “European and International Business Law” from the University of Vienna to Stanford Law School, in line with Stanford Law School's Foreign Exchange Program policies.

Stanford IP Summer School
Each August, Stanford Law School hosts a one-week international summer school in U.S. intellectual property (IP) law. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Stanford University ranks among the most prestigious universities in the world.
Each year, four students from the LL.M. program “European and International Business Law” are admitted to the summer school with their tuition waived. Additional LL.M. students may be offered spots at a substantially reduced tuition rate.
Students who attend the summer school in person at Stanford will receive a certificate from Stanford Law School. Students who attend the Summer School online will receive a confirmation of participation upon request. The summer school counts as a 6 ECTS elective module toward the LL.M. program "European and International Business Law".

LL.M./MBA Option
Thanks to our cooperation with Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), you can complement the legal expertise gained in the LL.M. program with business administration skills. The MBA program covers the fundamentals of management, corporate leadership and business decision-making – ideal for legal professionals working at the intersection of law and business.
Students in the LL.M. program “European and International Business Law” are eligible for a preferential MBA pathway at TU Wien, including reduced MBA tuition and the option to transfer selected coursework from the LL.M. toward the MBA.

Austrian Arbitration Academy Summer Program
The Austrian Arbitration Academy’s summer program is a two-week intensive course focusing on international commercial arbitration. The program is recognized as a specialization module (elective) worth 8 ECTS credits toward the LL.M. program “European and International Business Law”. The course is taught in English.

Summer School for International and European Studies
This four-week summer program offered by the University of Vienna’s Summer School features a range of courses in law, politics, economics, history and cultural studies in a European and international context. The program is recognized as a specialization module (elective) worth 8 ECTS credits toward the LL.M. program “European and International Business Law”. The course is taught in English.

EUIPO and EPO Traineeships
After completing the LL.M. program, you can apply for a traineeship at European institutions such as the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) or the European Patent Office (EPO). These programs offer valuable practical experience in European intellectual property (IP) law and help you transition into international legal roles in this field.

The University of Vienna regularly awards scholarships to graduates in law who completed their degree at a university abroad. These scholarships are typically announced in May/June.
