NEW: Microcredentials in "International Disaster Management and Civil Protection"

EUMA now offers four different Microcredentials: in Vienna, Enschede, Pisa and Dublin.

The continuing education program “International Disaster Management and Civil Protection” (EUMA) is expanding its range of study options with four new Microcredentials, offering professionals the opportunity to specialise in selected areas of international disaster and risk management and gain an additional qualification.

Designed for professionals working in or preparing for roles in the European and global crisis, risk and civil protection environment, EUMA combines scientific foundations with practical, application-oriented skills. Participants explore the full disaster management cycle, work with current case studies from Europe and around the world, and apply their knowledge through practical exercises and simulations.

Four Microcredentials across Europe

The new Microcredentials reflect the international structure of the EUMA program. Courses are delivered in English and combine online learning with attendance blocks at partner universities across Europe. Each Microcredential focuses on a specific area of the disaster and risk management cycle, providing participants with insights into different institutional approaches, national structures and examples of good practice.

The four Microcredentials take participants to Vienna, Enschede, Pisa and Dublin, with each location offering a distinct thematic focus:

  • Vienna, Austria – University of Vienna

    Foundations of Risk Prevention and Disaster Management provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental concepts and approaches of risk prevention and disaster management.

  • Enschede, Netherlands – University of Twente

    Multi-Hazard and Risk Assessment focuses on understanding and assessing complex, interconnected risks and multi-hazard scenarios.

  • Pisa, Italy – Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies

    International Disaster Management: Legal, Institutional and Geopolitical Dimensions explores the legal, institutional and geopolitical frameworks shaping international disaster management.

  • Dublin, Ireland – Dublin City University

    Business Continuity Management and Resilience in the Geopolitical Context examines approaches to business continuity and organisational resilience in the context of an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.

First Microcredential starts in Vienna on 5. October

The first EUMA Microcredential will take place in Vienna and starts on 5 October. Registration is still open, giving interested professionals the opportunity to join the first Microcredential and take part in the international EUMA learning experience.

With its new Microcredentials, EUMA offers professionals a focused opportunity to further specialise, broaden their international perspective and strengthen their expertise in the field of disaster management and civil protection.
