The u:card is the student ID of the University of Vienna and also serves as your library card. In addition to the physical u:card, university students can use the Digital Student ID. You can access it via ID Austria and the “e-Ausweise” app.
Order your u:card online via My u:card (login with your u:account required). After you place your order, it will be mailed to the address you provided (shipping only within the EU/EEA and Switzerland). Please allow up to two weeks for printing and delivery.
Note: Your u:card is only valid after it has been validated at a u:card terminal.
Further information about the u:card is available at ucard.univie.ac.at.
Your study documents are available for download in u:space at any time: Under Personal > My documents, you will find your record of studies (Studienblatt), confirmation of enrollment (Studienbestätigung), confirmation of study period (Studienzeitbestätigung), and consolidated transcript (Sammelzeugnis). You can conveniently view and download these documents as PDFs.
If you need an individual confirmation (e.g., for funding bodies or special formats), your program’s Program Management will be happy to help. Please indicate what you need the confirmation for, in which language or format it should be issued, and by when you need it.

| Housing | The University of Vienna does not operate its own student residence halls. Since university buildings are spread across Vienna, there is no single “best” place to live. Because the housing market can be quite expensive, student residence halls or shared apartments can be more affordable alternatives. Below you will find several organizations that can help with your housing search:

*Note: Please note that many discounts are governed by the Student Support Act (StudFG). Therefore, discounts are often not available to students with “non-degree student” status.
The University of Vienna offers a wide range of web services and software licenses.
You will use the following services during your continuing education program at the Postgraduate Center.
u:space is the University of Vienna’s study/student portal. Prospective students can access u:space after creating a u:account to complete initial registration. If you are already a student or alum, you can view your personal data and download documents—such as your record of studies (Studienblatt), confirmation of enrollment (Studienbestätigung), confirmation of study period (Studienzeitbestätigung), or consolidated transcript (Sammelzeugnis)—as officially signed PDF documents.
The u:account is your personal access to the University of Vienna’s IT services. It consists of a u:account user ID and a u:account password, both of which you set yourself. You must create your u:account personally; otherwise, third parties could obtain your u:account password, which must be kept confidential under the u:account terms of use.
Prospective students need a u:account to submit their admission application in u:space. Information on creating your u:account and registering as a prospective student will be provided by your Program Management after you have been notified of your admission to the continuing education program.
u:find is the University of Vienna’s online directory, where you can find, for example, the course directory as well as people and organizational units. The course directory informs you about the aims, contents, and methods of a course; the type of assessment; permitted aids; minimum requirements and grading scale; exam topics; and required literature.

Your Program Management will grant you access to your specific Moodle course(s) as soon as they are available to you.
For technical issues (e.g., login errors), please contact moodle.pgc(at)univie.ac.at.
With your u:account, you automatically receive a personal email address and mailbox. You can send, receive, and manage your emails in various ways:
- Using a locally installed email program or an email app: Instructions email management with IMAP
- In your browser via webmail
- To ensure you don’t miss important messages, you can also set up automatic forwarding to your private email address: Instructions for forwarding emails
Additional Software for Students
In addition to the web services listed above, the University of Vienna also offers numerous other tools, software, and licenses.
AI is playing an increasingly important role in both studies and teaching. The University of Vienna’s Service Unit “Teaching Affairs and Study Services” provides information on its website “Using AI in Your Studies” about the use of AI. There you will find answers to questions such as:
- What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
- Am I allowed to use AI tools in my studies?
- What should I keep in mind when using AI tools?
If you have specific questions about the use of AI in your continuing education program, please contact your Program Management at any time.
In addition to the University Act 2002 (UG2002), the University of Vienna’s Statutes and the respective curricula of the continuing education programs form the legal basis.
You can find the curricula of our continuing education programs in the University of Vienna Gazette (Mitteilungsblatt). Among other things, they provide information on the program objectives and qualification profile, the duration of the continuing education program, admission requirements, the selection process, the number of study places, and the structure, scope, and content of modules and courses.
