Psychotherapy
The psychotherapy training at the University of Vienna’s Postgraduate Center offers a rigorous academic pathway that combines practice-oriented psychotherapy training with the scholarly quality of one of the largest and oldest universities in the German-speaking world. Psychotherapy, in particular, has a long-standing tradition at the University of Vienna.
Our portfolio includes the continuing education bachelor’s program Psychotherapy Fundamentals as the first step, as well as subsequent continuing education master’s programs in all four psychotherapy clusters: psychodynamic, humanistic, systemic, and behavior therapy. You can choose your preferred approach while benefiting from the breadth that fosters interdisciplinary thinking and enriches your personal and professional development.
The University of Vienna stands for a long tradition in psychotherapy. Close cooperation with renowned professional associations, which cover the full spectrum of the four clusters in the second training phase, provides you with a direct connection to your chosen field already during your master’s studies. This collaboration ensures a seamless transition into the third training phase. In this way, the University of Vienna’s Postgraduate Center offers the entire training pathway end to end and on a part-time basis—both under the system in place before and after the 2024 Psychotherapy Act.
Currently, we offer psychotherapy training in German only.
