University Extension

As Austria’s largest institution of education and research, the University of Vienna plays a vital role in society and is committed to advancing the reciprocal exchange of knowledge between the University and the public. As the central hub for continuing education and lifelong learning at the University of Vienna, the Postgraduate Center demonstrates that academic expertise is valuable not only in initial degree studies but also in part-time continuing education at every career stage.

University Extension is an interdisciplinary event program of the University of Vienna’s Postgraduate Center. Through open learning formats, we offer free continuing education in the form of lectures, discussions, and workshops, delivered in cooperation with regional businesses, the people of Vienna, and societal institutions and NGOs. This creates a sustainable network connecting academia, practice, and the public. In doing so, the University of Vienna makes an important contribution to the knowledge society, strengthens its Third Mission, and actively promotes lifelong learning.
